Children’s Services CHC30708 Certificate III in Children Services

Additional Information: Police Checks are required for working in Children’s Services.  Students must obtain a current check prior to commencing work experience.  It is recommended that you contact your local doctor to be advised about immunizations appropriate for working in Children’s Services.
Students will be required to complete level 2 First Aid at an additional fee. To be advised

Participants are also required to complete 140 hours of work placement.

Assessment: assessments will take place for each unit using assessment tools and three different assessment methods which could include; observation, demonstration, written questions, verbal questioning, port- folio, assignment or workplace assessment

» Course Description:

Course Outline & Delivery: This course provides basic training for people who wish to assist higher-qualified staff in the provision of education programs and quality care for children, from infants to 12 years within Children’s Services settings including:
 Centre-based Care  Occasional Care
 Out of School Hours Care  Family Day Care

» Duration: Full time over 35 weeks (day class) 9.15 to 3pm Part Time and Flexible Learning: The course will be offered as Flexible learning on a part time basis.

» Essentials/Prerequisites: * 15 years and older

» Pathways:

Employment opportunities after completing the course may include; Child Care Assistant Level II, Parent Educator, Support Worker.  Students interested in further study after the completion of this course may go onto the Diploma of Community Services (Children’s Services).
