Equine RGR20108 Certificate II in Racing (Stablehand)
The course is an ideal starting point for people with little or no experience to learn how to handle horses in a safe and friendly environment with horses to suit all levels of experience. It is also an opportunity for people who already have skills and experience with horses to be recognised for this knowledge and gain a Nationally Recognised Qualification that is the Standard in the Equine & Racing Industry.

» Course Description:
A Stablehand is a person who is employed in the Equine Industry whether it is a Riding/Agistment Centre, Stud or Racing stable and whose prime function is to care for the animals and to meet their individual needs of feeding, grooming, exercising, treatments, transporting, and keeping the environment safe & clean.

» Duration: Full time: 19 weeks full time. Students will be required to work occasional weekends and evenings with Centre horses on a rostered basis. Work will normally be from 7.30am to 4.00pm, 5 days per week, with some early morning starts and late finishes. Stude

» Essentials/Prerequisites: Students need be 15 years of age and a minimum of Year 8 or equivalent qualification. Selection of eligible students will be based on interview with an industry panel. Students will need to show elements of motivation, awareness of industry requirements and a passion to work in the industry.
» Pathways:
Graduates may gain work in professional stables as stablehands, working with minimum supervision or continue on to complete a higher Certificate in the Racing Stream (E.g. Certificate IV in Racing).
» Recognition of Prior Learning/Credit Transfers:
Students wishing to apply for RPL need to indicate this on the Enrolment Form. RPL Application Forms are available from the Course Co-ordinator.
Credit Transfer: Credit Transfer is the recognition and acknowledgment of modules or units of competency acquired through prior formal credentialed training (identical academic experience).
