Hairdressing WRH30106 Certificate III in Hairdressing

1 Mannequin head will be supplied for students, they may need to purchase more than one mannequin
head throughout the course- Please note a kit will need to be purchased at the cost of $350 for new entrants
Students will need to bring pen and paper to each class. It is a requirement that students wear black pants and shirt and suitable shoes (no thongs) in the salon. Hair Kits containing: hairbrushes, client smock, bag, straightening irons, clips, hairdryer, scissors and mannequin.

» Course Description:

Certificate III in Hairdressing covers haircutting, hair design, colouring, decolourising and lightening and chemical reformation for male and female clients. The course also introduces occupational health and safety, hair analysis, hair structure and growth and hair and scalp disorders.
Both courses for non-apprenticeship and apprenticeships will give the student hands on experience in Hairdressing, covering all aspects of the trade.
The course consists of a combination of theory and practical experience in Education Centre Gippsland Ltd’s Hair and Training Centre (Traralgon) and Warragul McMillan Campus Salon. It provides the skills necessary to work as a hairdresser, from the basics, such as how to maintain a clean, safe and efficient workplace to how to communicate effectively with those around you, and the essential fundamentals.
On completion of the course successful participants will be qualified to treat, cut, colour and style hair, coordinate a salon team and sell various products and services.
Certificate III in Hairdressing graduates will be qualified professional hairdressers

» Commencement: Traralgon Tuesday 9th February 2010 Warragul Monday 8th February 2010

» Cost: With Concession- $ 520 No concession $1400.00 for eligibile students under 25 on January 1st. $7,500 for fee for service student

» Essentials/Prerequisites: Students must been 15 years and over. Selection of eligible students will be based on interview with the Co-ordinator of the program. Students must also be motivated, show an awareness of industry requirements and keenness to work in the industry. No academic pre-requisites for this course, but the expectation are that students will have achieved an educational level that will enable them to achieve course objectives.

» Pathways:

Certificate III in Hairdressing graduates will be well prepared to enter the hairdressing and beauty industry as a professional hairdresser, session stylist or salon manager or owner.

» Recognition of Prior Learning/Credit Transfers:

Students wishing to apply for RPL need to indicate this on the Enrolment Form.  RPL Application Forms are available from the Course Co-ordinator.

Credit Transfer is the recognition and acknowledgment of modules or units of competency acquired through prior formal credentialed training (identical academic experience).
ECG grants Credit Transfer under our Mutual Recognition obligations.
