The Disability Employment Services (DES) provides specialist assistance to job seekers with disabilities who require on going support to find and maintain employment. Disability Employment Services (DES) is federally funded through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
The assistance that a job seeker can expect is:
Preparation for a job:
• Vocational Counselling – determining your work options
• Employment Planning – planning for work that is suitable to your needs, interests and aspirations
• Creating a resume that best reflects your skills, qualifications and experiences
• Practicing for job interviews and developing your confidence to best present yourself at the interview
Finding a job:
• Searching for jobs that suit you and are in line with your skills and interests
• Completing job applications and making interview arrangements with prospective employers•
• Approaching employers on your behalf to negotiate employment
Keeping your job:
• Initial on-the-job training to help you learn your new job
• Keeping in touch to make sure you are going well and have settled into your new job •
• Provide information and referral to other services which may assist you
• Professional development and training advice
Eligibility:
Via Centrelink
Job seekers who are assessed by a Job Capacity Assessor through Centrelink to have a permanent disability and need long term ongoing support in the workplace
• Have a permanent (or likely to be permanent) disability
• Have a reduced capacity
• Require support for more than six months after placement in employment
• Require specialist assistance to build capacity
Or those not receiving income supports can still participate in DES but they must meet the below criteria
Direct Registration
• Legally permitted to work in Australia
• Be of eligible age (14 – 65)
• Have a permanent disability, injury or health condition with a future work capacity greater then 8hrs per week
ECG is the DES provider in West and South Gippsland with sites at Morwell, Warragul and Leongatha.

What is NWP?
NWP is a program to help get people back into work.
It is particularly aimed at industries which are identified as having skills shortages, such as: construction, horticulture, hospitality, aged care, community services, transport and engineering.
New Workforce Partnerships address two priorities of the Victorian Government: increasing sustainable employment opportunities for Victorians facing significant barriers to work and addressing areas of emerging labour and skill shortages.
Who is eligible for NWP?
Anyone experiencing any of the following barriers:
• Youth 15—24
• Public housing tenant
• Sole parent
• Ex-offender
• Indigenous Australian
• Recent Migrant
• Person with a physical disability
• Person with a mental illness
• Person with learning difficulties
• Retrenched worker with limited market opportunities
Interested people can self-refer or be referred via organisations. This is a FREE service.
ECG delivers NWP in partnership with Corrections Victoria and Latrobe Community Health Services. The program supports eligible job seekers particularly ex-prisoners, people on current community orders and neighbourhood renewal residents to gain sustainable employment in the construction, horticulture and transport industries.
ECG is the NWP provider in the Latrobe Valley from the Morwell site and Warragul.

Education Centre Gippsland in partnership with Baw Baw Shire delivers a range of programs to support the local Koori community. These programs include Community Luncheon, Community Kitchen and School Holiday Program. Activities are arranged for occasions such as NAIDOC Week and Reconciliation Week.
Education Centre Gippsland delivers training programs for the community with an Indigenous Art Program that has been offered for the past three years. In 2008 Brayakalong an innovative Koori Art program enabled ECG to be awarded Victoria’s top ACE Provider of the Year at the Wurreker Awards

ECG is a New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) provider across Gippsland and South East Melbourne.
NEIS is available for eligible job seekers who wish to start and run a small business. The program provides accredited training, business advice and mentoring as well as ongoing income support for up to 52 week. Training is Certificate IV in Small Business Management and this training is offered in a combination of delivery modes including group setting and online.

YEP is a program to help young people to gain and remain in work.
It is designed to assist young people from Drouin and District.
The program will assist local employers to source employees particularly young people.
Youth Employment Program (YEP) is a FREE SERVICE to the youth of Drouin & District made possible by funding from Drouin & District Community Bank® Branch Bendigo Bank.
