Investing in Community Education and Training (ICET)

The Australian Government last year announced the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund (TLCF) for Vocational Education and Training (VET) (the Program) as part of a $4.7 billion nation-building infrastructure package to support Australia’s economy.

The TLCF (VET) will provide $500 million during the 2009-10 financial year which will be distributed through initiatives focused on modernising and improving the quality of teaching and learning across the vocational education and training sector.  Part of the funding for this initiative will be provided through the Investing in Community Education and Training (ICET) program where a total of $100 million is available to Community Education and Training providers. ECG was successful in obtaining $1,102,100 for major capital infrastructure developments or upgrades.

ECG will add up to $392,000 from local contributions thereby valuing the project at up to $1,494,100.

The project will be done in two parts – infrastructure improvements at ECG McMillan Warragul and information and communications technology upgrades throughout ECG’s campuses/offices at Smith Street, Warragul; McMillan Leongatha; Copy Centre, Warragul; Logan Park Harness Training Centre, Warragul; Traralgon; Morwell and Pakenham.

At McMillan Warragul additional teaching spaces will be added, existing teaching spaces upgraded, a commercial kitchen installed, improved disability access, heating/cooling system replaced, additional trainers offices added, internal and external painting of the main building and amenity improvements overall.
