Work for the dole

The Work for the Dole programme is federally funded through Department of Employment Workplace Relations. WfD provides work experience for unemployed people within community, non-profit organizations. ECG assists these people meet their mutual obligation requirement via individual Work for the Dole placements throughout West & South Gippsland and Cardinia.

ECG works closely with the Community Work Coordinators to ensure that the placements are organized with schools, a range of health providers, Aged Care facilities, shire-managed sites or charity groups.

 

Home Maintenance

This contract is to provide fully resourced personnel for the provision of Property Maintenance Services in specified residences in Baw Baw Shire. Duties include gardening, maintenance tasks, window cleaning, minor plumbing and carpentry and cleaning.

ECG holds the contract with Baw Baw Shire for the provision of Property Maintenance Services.

 

Indigenous Programmes

Structured Training Employment Programme (STEP)
STEP provides a range of services specifically designed for Indigenous jobseekers. STEP services can be:
  • pre-employment
  • employment placement and;
  • mentoring)

The purpose of the programme is to ensure that Indigenous jobseekers move into and retain sustainable jobs.

 

 

Jobs Placement Employment Training (JPET)

The JPET programme assists young people aged between 15 and 21 years, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and/or have multiple barriers that severely limit their capacity to:

  • participate socially in the life of their communities
  • participate in economic focused activity such as education, employment or vocational training and/or
  • benefit from employment assistance.

The programme helps young people overcome barriers such as:

  • drug or alcohol abuse
  • sexual abuse or violence
  • domestic violence
  • behavioural problems
  • physical intellectual disability
  • mental health problems
  • self harming behaviours
  • history of committing offences
  • experiences of torture and trauma.

JPET seeks to bridge the gap between short-term or crisis assistance and employment related assistance.  Providers draw on and work collaboratively with existing community support services and networks in their local community to give young people the most appropriate support for their needs.

Involvement in the JPET programme aims to help young people with:

  • reconnecting with education or study
  • engaging with employment assistance
  • participating in programmes with a workforce participation focus
  • accessing specialist support services
  • stabilising accommodation
  • increasing social connections and participation in the community.

Job Placement Employment Training (JPET) is federally funded through the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

ECG is the JPET provider in West and South Gippsland with sites at Morwell, Warragul and Leongatha.

ECG is a JPET provider in South East Melbourne with sites at Pakenham and Cranbourne.

Personal Support Programme (PSP)

People eligible for the PSP deserve individualised attention because of their difficult circumstances. They may face homelessness, drug and alcohol problems, psychological disorders, domestic violence or other significant barriers to participation. The PSP acts as a bridge between short-term crisis assistance and employment-related assistance.

Service providers help participants work towards economic or social outcomes. Economic outcomes can include transferring to work programmes, study and vocational training. Social outcomes include stabilised circumstances, increased community engagement, stable accommodation or improved life skills.

Personal Support Programme (PSP) is federally funded through the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

ECG is the PSP provider in East Gippsland with a site at Sale and outreach to Bairnsdale and Yarram.

Disability Employment Network (DEN)

The Disability Employment Network (DEN) provides specialist assistance to job seekers with disabilities who require on going support to find and maintain employment. DEN is delivered by a network of organisations – large and small – around Australia.

A job seeker can be referred to DEN if they:

  • have a permanent (or likely to be permanent) disability
  • have a reduced capacity for communication, learning or mobility
  • require support for more than six months after placement in employment   
  • require specialist assistance to build capacity in order to share the financial, social and personal /over benefits that employment offers.

The assistance that a job seeker can expect is employment preparation, job search and placements, and post placement support.

Disability Employment Network (DEN) is federally funded through the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

Workforce Participation Partnerships (WPP)

What is WPP?

WPP is a program to help get people back into work.

It is particularly aimed at industries which are identified as having skills shortages, such as: construction, horticulture, hospitality, aged care, community services, transport and engineering.

Workforce Participation Partnerships address two priorities of the Victorian Government: increasing sustainable employment opportunities for Victorians facing significant barriers to work and addressing areas of emerging labour and skill shortages.

Who is eligible for WPP?

Anyone experiencing any of the following barriers:

  • Youth 15—24
  • Public housing tenant
  • Sole parent
  • Ex-offender
  • Indigenous Australian
  • Recent Migrant
  • Person with a physical disability
  • Person with a mental illness
  • Person with learning difficulties
  • Retrenched worker with limited market

opportunities

  • Mature 45+

Interested people can self-refer or be referred via organisations. This is a FREE service.

WPP is now also operating in Bass Coast and South Gippsland Shires.

ECG delivers WPP in partnership with Corrections Victoria and Latrobe Shire. The program supports eligible job seekers particularly ex-prisoners, people on current community orders and neighbourhood renewal residents to gain sustainable employment in the construction, horticulture and transport industries.

ECG is the WPP provider in the Latrobe Valley from the Morwell site.
